Data Source
Attendance data comes from roll call vote records published by the Office of the Clerk, U.S. House of Representatives.
What Counts as a Vote
Attendance is measured by participation in recorded roll call votes. Voice votes and unanimous consent agreements are not tracked because they do not record individual member participation. A member is counted as “present” for a vote if they cast a Yea, Nay, or Present vote.
Sessions Tracked
This tool covers roll call votes from the 118th and 119th Congress. Attendance rates are calculated across all recorded votes in the tracked sessions.
Chamber Average
The chamber average attendance rate is calculated across all members with recorded votes in the tracked sessions. It provides a baseline for comparing individual member attendance.
What This Does NOT Show
This tool does not capture committee attendance, does not distinguish between excused and unexcused absences, and does not account for absences due to medical leave, official travel, or other conflicts. A missed floor vote does not necessarily mean a member was absent from Washington.
Update Frequency
Updated as roll call votes are published by the House Clerk. During active sessions, new votes are recorded several times per week. Historical data covers the 118th and 119th Congress.
