How the quiz works

The quiz presents one question from each of the 12 issue areas we track (Healthcare, Climate, Labor, Immigration and so on). Which question fills each slot is drawn at random from a pool of 42, so taking the quiz again gives you a different set. Each question maps to a specific bill or cosponsorship from the tracked 119th Congress record, and your Yes/No answer is compared to the representative's actual vote or cosponsorship on that item.

The alignment score is the percentage of compared questions where your answer matches the representative's recorded position. Three things are excluded from that calculation: questions you skipped, questions where the member did not vote, and questions where the member voted present. A member who took no position has not disagreed with you, so those are reported separately rather than counted against the score. All positions come from official roll call votes and cosponsorship records in the congressional record.
